Local residents will be aware that part of the old Barclays Bank Sports Ground has been de-designated in order for a potential new school to be sited on its south-east corner. The school has now had permission to open in 2018 on a temporary site in anticipation of the school fully opening on the Barclays site in 2020.
Whilst a new school is needed in the area, local residents and councillors have concerns about the position of the school and are totally opposed to any part of the remaining green space being built on for residential or commercial use.
As with any free school, before the school can sign a Funding Agreement with the Department of Education it has a statutory obligation to consult, formally, with interested local parties. More details are available on the school website www.northtwyford.org.uk.
This consultation is set out under Section 10 of the Academies Act 2010.
The consultation will run for a period of 6 weeks starting on Friday 20th October and running until Sunday 3rd December 2017.
We urge all local residents to respond.
